Hi, I’m Jim Kinney, founder of
As a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), my job is to help people maintain their wealth and create a realistic plan to achieve their goals. It might be planning for retirement, estate planning, college financial planning, financial planning for a baby — whatever the need, it’s achievable with the right plan in place.
You might wonder whether working with a Certified Financial Planner matters. Well, it really does. Not all “financial planners” are certified.
CFPs represent a high level of competency, ethics and professionalism. By becoming a Certified Financial Planner, I’ve fulfilled comprehensive requirements set by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Learn more about the CFP certification and why it matters at www.cfp.net.
Please don’t feel intimidated. I’ve helped hundreds of people understand their options and develop a plan to achieve financial objectives.
Call me at (908) 203-4664, or send me an email using the form on this page. There’s no pressure and no obligation. Tell me what you are trying to accomplish and let’s see what we can do. I look forward to speaking with you.
Below is a brief outline of my experience and credentials…
BS in Business Administration, Drexel University. (1984)
MBA, Fairleigh Dickenson University, (1990)
CFP Education Program, College for Financial Planning, 2007
2008 Certified Financial Planner™
Certified College Planning Specialist (2008)
Member of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA)
Member of Financial Planning Association (FPA)
Entrepreneur/Business Operations/Finance. Co founder and Chief Operations Officer of Shore to Shore Inc. of Miamisburg, Ohio. Successfully grew this start up into a leading international supplier of garment tags and labels with a focus on international supply chain logistics and UPC data management solutions. I sold my interest in 2003 to pursue other professional interests.
After selling my interest in Shore to Shore, I began informally helping family and friends with their personal finances. An offer from a friend who was a CFP lured me into the profession on a full time basis and I started working toward my CFP certification. In 2007 I started my own firm, Financial Pathways in its present location. We have been growing successfully, as people increasingly are looking for alternatives to the product sales oriented approach still common in the industry. I added Luba Globerman to the team in 2009.
Married to Laura for 27 years with 4 school and college aged children ages 14 through 22. In my spare time I am actively involved as a scouting volunteer (Assistant Scoutmaster) and enjoy fly fishing, hiking, and the great outdoors.
